Bootstrap the Blank Slate   2003
Online artwork.
Unique.

Currently hobbled, this project was commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, in 2003, for their "digital gallery" program.  The interactive work allowed user/players to interact with a front-end color-grid "toy" while unknowingly (at least initially) generating painterly objects.

A second major element was the automatic inheritance and passing on of "colorpoints", which served as a sort of genetic material and flowed through the generations of grid/painting pairs.  While the work is not currently functional (damn Shockwave), the over 13,000 previously generated pairs are still accessible on the MOCA site.  For more info see the original project page as well.
